The word science is derived from the Latin word, scientia, which means 'knowledge'. Science is a system of gaining knowledge based on various scientific processes. Through these processes, knowledge is gained, theories are formed, and scientific research is published. It is the goal of the Landrum High School Science Department to facilitate this body of knowledge that science encompasses into each classroom using the South Carolina High School Science Standards as a foundational approach to instruction.
